Year Group 6
The story is set in Scotland and James Bond is snooping around the bad guys base looking for clues when he is caught..... The funniest bit is when it says " He sat there attacking his tea with fierce concentration." My favourite part was when his friend said "I bet there are criminals locked up in prison somewhere." Why? Because the author describes the scene mysteriously.
The theme is good vs evil and loyalty.
The setting: one of the ways he lets you know where the character is, is by describing how they feel in that place. At the start of chapter 4 it says that James was shivering and his body felt raw and had goose bumps. In the next line it tells you" if it's this cold out of water how cold is it inside?" Then you know James is stood next to a river or lake about to go swimming. The new word I learnt was loch it meant a lake in Scotland.
At the start James felt like a new kid. In the middle he felt confused and in the end he felt scared. The event of him meeting a spy happen as they were both snooping around and bumped into each other.
The author has used show don't tell by showing the main character is having a hard time. James was running from the bad guys. He decided to turn around and go back he did it as the bad guys base is the one place they wouldn't expect him to go.
A similar book series is Alex Rider. This book would appeal to people who like action-packed books.
