Review by Fergus
Year Group 3
I read this book as part of my school work at home during lockdown.
I liked the book because it has got lots of detail. I enjoyed hearing about Mr Wonka's inventions. My favourite invention was the Everlasting Gobstoppers, which never disappear.
This story is about five children who find Golden Tickets to go to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
Most of the five winners of the Golden Tickets were spoilt, selfish, mean and demanding children. I did not like them.
During the tour of the Chocolate Factory, there are lots of funny accidents! There are some funny little people called Oompaloompas in the Chocolate Factory too.
My favourite part of the book was when one of the children, Veruca Salt, fell down the rubbish chute when she was doing something she shouldn’t have been.
The author, Roald Dahl uses some made up words, for example, Snozzberries and Wonka-Vite. I don’t like these made up words because I don’t always know what they mean and it makes the story more difficult to understand.
I would recommend this book to everyone – adults and children.
