Year Group 5
A girl called Nikki Maxwell lives with her sister, Brianna, her Mummy and her Daddy. Nikki has her birthday coming up and she is arranging a party. She is inviting one hundred people and she is estimating that it will cost a lot of money. She was right.
Nikki's friends, Chloe and Zoe also got involved. They were looking after the invitations, the props and the clothes. Nikki was having a pool party. Her first dread was she doesn’t have a pool, just her sister’s ridiculous one, which was no use because only Nikki could fit in it at once! A new pool was going to cost a lot of money and it would take a long time to build.
When the party was all sorted out Nikki went to tell her Mummy what the payment was. She was not impressed and said it had to cost no more than one hundred pounds. Her party was going to cost way more. She had to speak to Chloe and Zoe!
Nikki decides to cancel her party a lot of times due to the trouble she has had! Will she ever put her party back on or will she just cancel the whole thing all together?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT MORE!
I think her Mummy said it had to be no more than one hundred pounds because they wouldn’t be able to afford it if it was higher.
In the beginning, Nikki is feeling prepared for anything because she has got the party all planned out. In the middle of the story, Nikki is feeling worried because she doesn’t know what to do. At the end of the story, Nikki is feeling proud because of the final outcome.
I would recommend this book to people who like to solve problems and trying to lower a birthday budget. Also, if you like pool parties and like a problem to go with it.
The author is trying to say that you should persevere (one of our School values) by saying that an event can still go ahead even with a few problems along the way. Always keep going and never ever give up!
